Set in a retirement home in the suburbs of London, LILTING TO THE PAST beautifully explores an elderly Chinese woman's grief over the loss of her daughter, whilst she simultaneously negotiates the (at times hilarious) advances of another male resident. Extracts of LILTING TO THE PAST were presented at THE 1ST MU-LAN FESTIVAL OF NEW WRITING at The Albany Empire in 2000, before the first fully rehearsed reading at THE SOHO WRITERS FESTIVAL on 9th November 2001. In July 2002, the play was read at the Islington Chinese Association and Hampstead Theatre, supported by the Peggy Ramsay Foundation. The
cast included: Rakie Ayola, Wendy Kweh, Pik-Sen Lim, Harry Towb, Matt
Wilkinson and Marlene Yan It was read the following day to an invited audience at Hampstead Theatre This play is scheduled to go into production in 2003. "It should be the duty of all of us who believe in equality to support talented British Chinese and Vietnamese citizens to get a voice in public spaces. He has written & directed two award-winning short films and worked in development on promos and features. He is currently writing his second full-length stage play. Mu-Lan has a proven
